Leading Isle of Man law firm Cains has been awarded top rankings in the internationally-recognised 2017 Chambers Global guide.

The annual guide, which objectively rates lawyers and law firms on a global basis, has given Cains top ‘Band 1’ recognition in both Corporate & Finance and Dispute Resolution.

Each year, the world’s best lawyers and law firms are ranked based on the in-depth research of more than 170 editors and researchers.

This year’s guide acknowledges Cains’ Dispute Resolutions department as a leader in complex commercial dispute work, with one source saying “I was very impressed with them: they offered a very quick turnaround of work. They have the technical expertise, but were also very commercially minded.”

Other comments listed from interviews with Cains’ Corporate & Finance clients include: “To me, they are head and shoulders above any other firm. In this field, they’re the best. They’re practical, approachable and speak in plain English.”

Peter Clucas is noted for dispute resolution as being “excellent for really complex cases” and received praise for his “excellent advice and commercial sense.”
Tristan Head is also noted for excelling in corporate finance matters both on the Isle of Man and cross-border, with one source saying: “He understands our business; he’s almost a business partner as well as a legal adviser.”

A total of nine Cains lawyers are individually ranked within the guide’s editorial including Richard Vanderplank, Andrew Baker, Mike Pinson, Tim Shepherd, Seth Caine and Robert Colquitt, with managing director Andrew Corlett OBE named as an ‘Eminent Practitioner’.
