Commercially-focused legal advice from aviation experts.
The Isle of Man is one of the most respected international centres for the registering of private and corporate owned business jets. In the field of commercial aerospace law, Cains is known as one of the best in the sector.
Our Aviation team has received a Tier One ranking each and every year since the introduction of the practice area “Shipping, Aviation and Space” in The Legal 500. Our lawyers are consistently ranked as leading individuals by the most respected legal directories, The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners, recognised for their ability to meet the demands and timescales inherent in the global nature of this sector.
Clients benefit from our in-depth local knowledge and familiarity with complex multi-jurisdictional aircraft financing and leasing transactions, which makes us well equipped to provide clear, concise and commercially-driven legal advice.
Our lawyers have extensive experience advising on a wide range of commercial and business aviation transactions, including aircraft finance and leasing, repossessions and security enforcement, business aircraft sale and purchase, regulatory, ownership structuring, insolvency and litigation (including freezing orders and injunctions).
We have been heavily involved in the growth of the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry since its inception in 2007 and our lawyers are in daily contact with Registry staff and have advised on numerous landmark transactions involving the Registry. These include disputed mortgage enforcements, the exercise of repairman liens, sanctions and injunctive matters, investigations into unlawful chartering and the temporary registration of repossessed airliners.
Our extensive experience means our client base ranges from commercial and private banks, boutique financiers, aircraft operators, manufacturers and maintenance organisations, to owners including multi-national companies, high net worth individuals and stars from the worlds of sport and entertainment.
