Emily is an Associate within our top tier Litigation practice, having joined in July 2021.

Emily gained legal experience in England and Wales, where she spent a number of years specialising in legal costs, before relocating to the Isle of Man in 2017. She qualified as a Manx Advocate in 2019.

She has a range of experience advising on complex commercial litigation and has acted for both international and local clients in contract disputes, debt recovery and shareholder dispute matters.

More recently, the focus of her practice has evolved. She has been advising clients on compliance, corporate governance, regulatory and risk issues, both in an advisory capacity and in the context of enforcement investigations. She has also been providing day to day advice for clients managing international co-operation requests and anti-money laundering issues and has assisted clients in reviewing their policy framework for compliance with regulatory standards. Alongside her regulatory practice, she also regularly provides assistance and advice on trust disputes and conflicts involving trustees, beneficiaries and third parties across multiple jurisdictions, including applications to the Isle of Man courts in relation to issues arising from the administration of trusts.

She achieved her undergraduate degree, Graduate Diploma in Law and Bar Professional Training Course via distance and part time learning whilst working. In addition to gaining an award on her Bar Professional Training Course, Emily has won the George Johnson Law Essay Prize for three consecutive years (2019, 2020, and 2021). Emily is currently the Chair of the Junior Lawyers’ Association.
