There was a strong Cains presence at the well-attended Asset Recovery International Conference held at the Conrad Hotel in Dublin between 28 February and 1 March 2019.

Known as the foremost conference for asset recovery practitioners around the world, the agenda featured a number of informative sessions on fraud litigation, enforcement and contentious insolvency.

David Doyle CBE, former First Deemster and senior legal adviser within Cains’ litigation department, participated on the “View from the Bench” panel which also comprised of Edward Bannister CMG QC, a former Commercial Court Judge from the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court based in the British Virgin Islands and Mr Justice David Barniville, a Judge of the High Court of Ireland and Middle Temple Bencher.

Contributions focused on combating fraud, asset recovery and contentious insolvency issues. The attendees included leading judges, lawyers and insolvency practitioners from across the globe.

David commented:

“I was delighted to speak at such a prestigious conference. Peter Clucas and I flew the Manx flag and in addition to meeting existing and future clients and legal contacts we informed the delegates of the latest developments in Manx law in the important and increasingly relevant area of asset recovery. It is good for Cains and for the island to be mixing with leading international judges, lawyers and insolvency practitioners”
