David Doyle, former First Deemster, has joined Cains as a senior legal adviser within the litigation department.
Mr Doyle will assist the litigation team and their clients principally in company, commercial, trust and regulatory matters having had more than 30 years’ experience of such matters in the Isle of Man.
Mr Doyle said: ‘I qualified as an advocate in 1984 and spent nearly 20 years at the Manx Bar before taking up a judicial position.
‘Having spent the last 15 years as a full time Deemster it is a refreshing and reinvigorating challenge to come back home to private practice and continue to support an independent Manx Bar which is so crucial in facilitating access to justice and indeed to the future of this wonderful island.
‘It is a real privilege and pleasure to be working with such a first class team of advocates, lawyers qualified in other jurisdictions and dedicated support staff at Cains.
‘I thank the directors for giving me this opportunity which I am relishing.’
Peter Clucas, the managing director at Cains, said: “This is an exciting time for the new management team at Cains.
‘We continue to expand and to ensure that we have sufficient resources to serve our local and international clients within the timescales and with the skills they expect, require and deserve.
‘David brings years of experience, a unique perspective and a special set of skills to litigation matters.
‘We look forward to working together in the best interests of our clients and the island generally.’
