Cains Advocates Limited has announced the enlargement of its board of directors by the appointment of Scott Leonard-Morgan and Steven Quayle.  Following the changes in ownership announced in July, the appointment of Scott and Steven, who became directors from 9 November 2018, and the recent recruitment of George Walmsley as a trainee advocate, are all part of a planned recalibration of the business.

Scott, who successfully qualified as an Isle of Man Advocate this year, was previously a partner at an award winning US law firm before joining Cains in 2015.  He has over 20 years of international experience in mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and corporate finance work.  In addition Scott has extensive experience in the technology and financial regulatory sectors.  Scott said “This is a very exciting time for Cains and I am looking forward to joining the board of the Island’s premier independent law firm and contributing to its future success”.

Steven trained with Cains and qualified as an Advocate in 2004, since when he has developed his own specialist practice as the Island’s leading aviation practitioner.  Steven is the only Isle of Man lawyer currently ranked in Chambers Global shortlist of leading private aviation lawyers and Who’s Who Legal Aviation guide. On his appointment to the board, Steven remarked that “Cains was prepared to take a chance on recruiting me when I was a student looking to return to the Island in 2002, and subsequently invested heavily in my professional development.  I am pleased to be joining the board at this new and exciting time for the firm and to have the opportunity to work with my fellow directors in developing and growing the business”.

George is currently working as a trainee in Cains’ corporate department, where he has already been involved in a variety of complex international transactions.

Cains Managing Director, Peter Clucas, said “This is somewhat of a new era for Cains and we are delighted to be able to promote Scott and Steven to the board. Cains remains keen to recruit the best talent in the legal profession, and Scott and Steven’s appointments reflect our commitment to retain highly experienced lawyers in all our specialist fields of practice.  I am certain that Scott and Steven will be invaluable additions to the board, and I look forward to working closely with them in promoting the firm’s market leading services to all our clients new and old.”
