As part of our long-term growth strategy, we are delighted to announce we have recently appointed Kirsty Knight as Head of Compliance.

Kirsty has over 12 years’ experience as a Compliance Officer and qualified Data Protection Practitioner with a demonstrated history of leading the compliance function within regulated industries, the Financial Intelligence Unit and IOM Government.

Prior to joining Cains, Kirsty was the Head of Compliance for the Isle of Man based eGaming company Unikrn Limited and, before that, she was a Supervisor at the Isle of Man Financial Intelligence Unit where she led Island-wide training programmes for the AICP, ACSP and the IOM FSA Anti Money Laundering and Financial Fraud Conference. She also spent 8 years as part of the Isle of Man Government Income Tax Division Investigations team.

In addition to leading Cains’ compliance team, Kirsty’s responsibilities will include the implementation of compliance policies and best practices, including those relating to anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism, as well as acting as the firm’s Data Protection Officer.

Kirsty said of her appointment: “I am thrilled to have joined Cains. As one of the preeminent law firms in the Isle of Man incorporating a CSP, the role will bring new challenges and enable me to contribute my experience in AML and CFT. I look forward to utilising my knowledge and expertise in data protection and acting as liaison with the regulators.”

Peter Clucas, Managing Director of Cains, said: “I am delighted to welcome Kirsty to the Cains team. She brings with her an extensive level of compliance and data protection experience having worked in both the public and private sectors and we are confident she will play a major part of Cains’ continued growth strategy.”
