In the field of commercial aviation, Cains regularly acts for some of the world’s leading financiers, airlines and lessors. Our aviation practice group is regularly involved in complex multi-jurisdictional aircraft financing and leasing transactions in respect of both commercial and business aviation. As a result of their involvement in, and familiarity with, such transactions, they are well equipped to meet the demands inherent in the global nature of such transactions and the timescales to which they are typically subject. We are regularly involved in multi-jurisdictional aircraft financing and leasing transactions.  Clients benefit from our familiarity with such transactions, which makes us well equipped to meet the demands and timescales of such global business.

Our aviation practice has become even busier since 2007 when the Isle of Man Aircraft Register was founded. This has been described as the fastest growing business jet register globally and was voted “best in the world” by aviation lawyers from around the world in a survey conducted by aviation publication ‘Corporate Jet Investor’. We have been heavily involved in the growth of the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry since the outset, are in daily contact with Registry staff and advise on an average of 40-50 business aviation transactions each year. Our business aviation clients range from banks to owners (including multi-national companies, high net worth individuals and sports stars) and business aviation manufacturers. We act as Isle of Man counsel to over a dozen established business jet financiers and estimate to have registered over 80 percent of mortgages on the Isle of Man Aircraft Register.
