Training with Cains

What we are looking for

The lawyers at Cains have all types of backgrounds – some have law degrees; others have studied economics, history or languages; others have had other careers before working with us. What is most important is an ability to fit within the Cains’ team. That does not mean we recruit stereotypes, but rather that you are someone who fully shares are values, will thrive in our environment and take full advantage of the opportunities available to you.

Cains’ trainees must demonstrate a mixture of intellect, enthusiasm, commitment and personality. We seek to recruit students with a mature outlook, plenty of common sense and a willingness to accept responsibility. In addition to excellent academic and interpersonal skills, we are looking for individuals who are confident, ambitious and technically strong.

What do trainees do?

We operate a rotation system so that our trainees are exposed to the full range of work that Cains undertakes. As a firm we are flexible enough to tailor your training to fulfil both your and the firm’s needs.

As a trainee, you will be fully supported by a director and other senior lawyers throughout your training contract. You will be encouraged to have as much hands on experience as you can and will be given direct client contact as soon as possible. You will also be expected to become involved in the firm’s business development initiatives at an early stage of your training.
