Cains, the Isle of Man based law and professional services group, has been named Pension Law Firm of the Year in the Isle of Man in the Global Law Experts 2013 International Awards. Ben Hughes, the Divisional Director who heads up Cains’ Insurance and Pensions Department, advises on occupational and personal pension share schemes and incenvite plans. Ben is a member of the UK Association of Pension Lawyers and is the Isle of Man’s contributor to a global online database that covers share plans in over 150 countries.
“We are very pleased that Cains’ achievements in the Isle of Man’s pensions industry are getting independent recognition from the wider legal and business community. We were previously voted Pensions Law Firm of the Year (Isle of Man) by Acquisition International in 2012 and it has been good to follow this with winning the Global Law Experts award for 2013. However, we wouldn’t be in contention for these awards if the Isle of Man didn’t have a strong client base for us to support and a good story to tell with regard to its offering in respect of retirement benefit and insurance solutions for multinational corporations. At the moment, having a robust regulatory framework overseen by the Insurance and Pensions Authority in a tax neutral jurisdiction is attracting high calibre multinationals to the Isle of Man. Once the administration of these retirement plans is settled in the Isle of Man, it opens up further opportunities to engage with these businesses and will help build the Isle of Man’s reputation as a centre of excellence for the administration of employee benefits. In short, this is definitely an area that we can grow for the Isle of Man and is one that Cains is well placed to support.”
