Insolvency & Corporate Reconstruction
Cains has a broad based insolvency and corporate reconstruction practice with particular experience of insolvency in the financial services industry. The firm has considerable experience in significant liquidations requiring extensive work on fraud, inter-mingling of funds and the tracing and recovery of assets in other jurisdictions. We have acted in several major cross-border insolvencies, including acting for the Isle of Man liquidator of BCCI.
We also act for trustees, bankrupts' creditors and those with other interests in individual insolvencies. Much of this type of work involves cross-border and multi-jurisdictional issues.
Our advocates have experience of many substantial schemes of arrangement, debt restructuring and corporate rescues. Recent cases include advising on a scheme of arrangement for the merger of two banks and advising on the restructuring of a company's capital in excess of US$1 billion.
