Cains Short-Listed For Asian Awards

29th April 2009

Cains, the Isle of Man-based commercial law firm, has been short-listed in the “offshore law firm of the year” category for the ALB SE Asia Law Awards 2009. In addition, two transactions which the firm’s Singapore office worked on have been short-listed for deal of the year awards.

The ALB SE Asia Law Awards recognises the excellence of south east Asia’s leading law firms as well as the top deals and dealmakers. The evening of the awards, which will be held on 5 June 2009, is regarded as the most important night for the legal profession in the region.

Cains’ activities in Asia, particularly acting for clients based in India and Malaysia, have resulted in the recently opened Singapore office being involved in a number of high-profile transactions, including GMR’s acquisition of Intergen and the financing of the Sentosa resort.

Andrew Corlett, Managing Director, Cains, said: “We are delighted to have been short-listed for these awards particularly when one bears in mind that our Singapore office only opened mid-way through the period which the judges take into account. The Queen’s Award for Excellence in the International Trade section was recently conferred on the firm and we see our short-listing for the ALB SE Asia Law Awards as further, independent verification of the progress which the firm is making in developing our practice internationally.”
