Cains Sponsor the Main Stage of “Bushy’s” Big Wheel Blues Festival 2007

“Bushy’s” Big Wheel Blues Festival 2007
Pavilion Ballroom, Laxey Glen Gardens
FESTIVAL UPDATE
Friday May 4 and Saturday May 5, 2006 – Laxey

The Big Wheel Blues Festival committee are pleased to announce that tickets are available for purchase online, from today, at www.bigwheelblues.com, with a secure payment system designed by committee member, Tim “Papa” Cass. Hard copy tickets for the event are also available from Peter Norris Music (Finch Road, Douglas) from today. Advance tickets cost £17.50 per person and for an additional £2.50 each you can buy tickets on a luxury coach that will run from Laxey Glen Gardens to Douglas at 00.15 on both Friday and Saturday nights. This is in line with our commitment to providing a safe environment for enjoying music and ensuring that our ticketholders can get home (or at least as far as Douglas) safely and cheaply! (Tickets will be available on the door for £20 per person for the main stage and £5 each for the coach – so there is a significant advantage to purchasing tickets in advance).

The Committee are also thrilled to announce sponsorship of the Main Stage by Cains which will enable the Festival to bring over significantly more individual performers than in any previous year. We are most grateful to Cains for their support of the Arts, in general, and of this year’s Blues Festival in particular.

Seth Caine, a director of Cains and lifelong blues fan said “The festival is growing in quality and prestige every year. We are delighted to be able to support the hard work of the Isle of Man blues community which has brought the event to its current level of international recognition”.

We are also grateful that the Arts Council have once again agreed to underwrite part of the costs of the Festival.

The Saturday afternoon “free stage” will be held at the Pavilion Ballroom (“free” – as in no charge for admission!!!) and the committee has lined up strong local representation. The event will start at 12 noon and run until 5pm. Bands include bright young Blues performers Key in the Lock who will open the afternoon’s free entertainment, the excellent Stone Creation and other old(er) favourites including Walter Ego, Darryl Williams and a variation on last year’s line up of “Wicked Grin”. The Pavilion Ballroom is licensed for the sale of alcoholic beverages and the bar will be open during the afternoon.

The Saturday afternoon “session” will be accompanied by fully supervised children’s entertainment (indoor and outdoor) in Laxey Glen Gardens run by Monica George. The kids marquee will be set up close to the Pavilion (in case of inclement weather).

Security at the main stage and Laxey Glen Gardens will be provided by Pro-Tec Security throughout the weekend, including the Saturday afternoon session.

The committee are looking forward to another excellent weekend of Blues on the main stage at Laxey Glen Gardens and hope that we have another full house!
