Cains Sponsors IOM Ladies Team's entry into the
2006 World Masters Pool Championship
25th April 2006
CAINS provided sponsorship to the IoM Ladies team giving the leading
pool players an opportunity to fly the flag of the IoM at the World
Masters Pool Championship 2006.
30 top IoM pool players and their passionate supporters visited
Bridlington, North-East England, to attend a five-day tournament
held from 9th to 13th April 2006. France, England, Scotland, Wales,
Northern Ireland, Shetland, Gibraltar and the Isle of Man competed
for the championship title.
Alison Cannon, an employee of CAINS and a member of the IoM Ladies
pool team, has been playing pool since she was 16. “The ladies
have improved a great deal since our last entry in the European
Pool Championship held at the Villa Marina last October. We started
the event very well by beating Gibraltar on the first day and Northern
Ireland later.”

The team eventually finished a creditable 6th out of the 8 teams.
Scotland won the Championship.
Carl Toombs, the Vice Chairman of the IoM Pool Players Association,
believes that participating in these kinds of events plays an important
role in bringing pool playing standards to an international level.
“We are indebted to CAINS for their kind assistance and overall
support. Similar events could not take place without the backing
of sponsorship.”
Andrew Corlett, the managing director of Cains, said “Being
associated with the promotion of IOM sport is always a pleasure.
Helping teams to compete at international level has the added benefit
of raising the Island’s profile in such a positive way.”
