Cains appoints new Head of Compliance
21st February 2006
Cains are pleased to announce the appointment of Neal Aitken as Head of Compliance.
Neal, who is a Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators and a professionally qualified member of the International Compliance Association, has been a corporate manager and the compliance officer of Equity Limited (“Equity”), Cains’ corporate service provider subsidiary, since May 2002. During this period Neal has also been involved with specific regulatory and compliance projects relating to Cains.
Neal, who has a background in corporate governance and statutory compliance, gained extensive experience as the assist company secretary of a Liverpool based firm of stockbrokers, and also within the company secretarial department of the UK listed media company, EMAP plc, based at their head office in Peterborough.
Neal commented: “Since joining the firm my role has become more compliance orientated, not just within Equity but also within the specific project work for Cains. This has become evermore evident with the introduction of the licensing of trustee service providers, Equity’s own continued growth, and most recently, through the corporate governance and regulatory aspects associated with the opening of Cains’ City of London office. I am obviously delighted by my appointment which will allow me to take-on a much broader, but group centred compliance role.”
Peter Clucas, Director and MLRO, commented:
“I congratulate Neal on his appointment. Good standards of compliance are essential for success in the international marketplaces in which Cains operate. Neal’s compliance workload has steadily increased during his time with the firm. His new appointment is necessary to support the firm’s continued growth and his experience will ensure that we are well placed to meet our compliance requirements in all the jurisdictions in which we now operate.”
