Cains Sponsors Ramsey Youth Centre and Old Boys Football Club

19th September 2006

Cains provided £5,000 sponsorship to Ramsey Youth Centre and Old Boys Football Club to assist the Club with their increased costs during temporary relocation.

Ramsey Youth Centre and Old Boys Football Club (RYCOB) will be relocated to Jurby from April 2007 for approximately two years whilst their home ground at Lezayre Road, Ramsey, is being developed for the building of the new junior school to replace Albert Road School.  A new pitch will be built at Lezayre Road after completion of the new school and provide the club with first class facilities going forward.  However, the club are faced with another difficult period with higher running costs due to these developments.

Cains are delighted to assist RYCOB by providing sponsorship to the club towards the relocation costs and ongoing costs of hiring the northern synthetic pitch at Ramsey Grammar School for their training sessions for senior and junior teams.

Jill Richards of Cains has family links with RYCOB, her brother Tony Kennish being the Vice-Chairman of the Club.  Jill said “I am absolutely thrilled that Cains have sponsored RYCOB in this way, the Club is an essential part of the Ramsey town community.  I know the sponsorship will enable the Club to continue with their youth development in their junior teams as well as at senior level.  Cains considers youth sports development in the Isle of Man to be very important.”

Gary Sherry, the Junior Co-Ordinator of RYCOB welcomed the firm’s sponsorship, saying “the Club are extremely grateful to Cains for providing a sound financial footing for the Club to move forward in what will be a period of increased costs.  The Club did struggle significantly financially during the development of Auldyn School due to increased running costs and player number reducing, so Cains’ assistance will greatly assist the club.”
