Cains Joins Manx National Heritage Scheme

3rd October 2005

KPMG and Cains Advocates are the first two companies to sign up to a new Corporate Membership scheme, launched by The Friends of Manx National Heritage, giving their staff free access to all Story of Mann heritage sites and many other exciting benefits.

Corporate Membership is a new category of membership designed especially for the business community. There are many companies who want to actively participate and support one of the most prestigious community services in the Isle of Man. By becoming a Corporate Member of The Friends of Manx National Heritage, companies will be offering a direct benefit to all their employees and making a public statement about their commitment and support of the Isle of Man’s unique history and heritage.

Speaking at the launch Stephen Harrison, Director of Manx National Heritage, said:

“We are delighted to be offering businesses the chance to invest in the Island’s heritage by bringing their staff into close co-operation with an organisation which is at the centre of establishing and promoting the Island’s national cultural identity. We encourage their staff to take full advantage of all the opportunities which have been made available to them and welcome their visits to all Story of Mann heritage sites”.

Corporate Membership staff benefits include; free access to all thirteen Story of Mann heritage sites, free or reduced access to properties operated by the National Trust for England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, the National Trust for Scotland, English Heritage and Historic Scotland, as well as equivalent organisations in Australia, New Zealand, the Cayman Islands and Bermuda. Staff will also benefit from a discount at all Story of Mann heritage shops.

Nicola Pemberton, Development and Administration Officer of The Friends of Manx National Heritage, said:

“Through talking to the business community and discussing their needs with Manx National Heritage, we have identified a very exciting new membership category which is a great opportunity for everyone”.

John Hollis, Chairman of the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce, added:

“This is an excellent opportunity for businesses to support Manx culture and heritage and at the same time offer a real benefit to all their employees”.

The Corporate Membership organisation benefits include; the staff benefits, special access to The Story of Mann sites for corporate entertaining which include some of the most atmospheric environments available – such as the new National Art Gallery, the new Natural History Gallery, the new Niarbyl Café and Visitor Centre along with the more established venues of the Manx Museum, Castle Rushen, the House of Manannan and the Old House of Keys. Other benefits could include complimentary use of one of the many conference facilities, membership marketing support and a framed canvas reproduction of a painting in the National collection.
