Three New Advocates for Cains

Law firm Cains Advocates Limited has announced the recent admission of three of its trainees as Manx advocates. Sally Cranshaw, Katherine Shea and Maria Barrett all joined Cains in July 2001 and passed their Manx Bar exams at the first attempt in May 2002.
Sally Cranshaw is currently working in Cains' corporate department, specialising in employment law. She joined Cains after obtaining a 2.1 degree in Geography from the University of Liverpool and completing the Common Professional Examination and Diploma in Legal Practice at Nottingham Law School. Commenting on her admission, Sally stated:
"I am naturally delighted to have qualified as a Manx advocate and am looking forward to pursuing my interests in corporate and employment law".
Katherine Shea graduated from Durham University with a 2.1 degree in Modern Languages before pursuing a legal career. She completed her CPE and LPC examinations at the College of Law. Katherine has qualified into Cains' litigation department but has an additional interest in the field of data protection legislation. Katherine said:
"I am excited by the opportunities and challenges and look forward to commencing my career as a qualified advocate within Cains' litigation practice. Cains sets high standards of its lawyers and I will strive to achieve those standards".
Katherine is currently chairperson of the Young Lawyers Association.
Maria Barrett graduated from University of Durham with a first class degree in Social Anthropology before also undertaking legal training at the College of Law in Chester. Maria's work in Cains' corporate department will include financial services, mutual funds and general commercial work.
Andrew Corlett, Managing Director of Cains, noted "the practice is extremely pleased to add the three Manx qualified lawyers to its ranks. Each of these trainees has solid academic backgrounds and judging by their performance during their period of traineeship will enjoy successful careers at the Manx Bar".
